I received Jencks in March 2007 and I don't think I have ever written to tell you how wonderful she is! She is beautiful with slightly  wavy, reddish-blonde hair that does not shed. She loves to swim and is a great watchdog. She is about 23 lbs. From the top of her back to the floor she is 15 inches off ground. She has a wonderful personality and is "Alpha Dog" to our 80 lb Lab who lets Jencks adore her! Jencks is a cross between a circus dog that stands on her hind legs for hugs and a roller derby girl that doesn't have quit in her. She is a joyful & loving addition to our family. I hope to get another dog from you someday soon because dogs are like potato chips...you can't have just two!!  Thank you for a great experience long distance with purchasing a 4-legged member of the family. We have a very smart & healthy pet that arrived socialized and well adjusted thanks to your loving and caring family.
Since her arrival she has gone to work with me at my law firm. I was then elected judge in Orleans Parish and I now bring her to court one day a week. Hopefully more often as I get people in the building comfortable with her presence and the idea of a dog in a public building. She sits on the floor in the courtroom under my bench.  I recently witnessed her moving closer to a police officer when he took the stand to testify and he began to pet and stroke her back and head while he testified.  I think it was good therapy for him!!
There also is another story I might share about Jencks. She jumped in our pool the 3rd week with us and my husband didn't see her as he was skimming the pool at the other end. She was pushed under by our Labrador as Cara swam over Jencks. She went underwater and could not get up for air but was just a- paddling. Then he saw the paddling getting slower as he got to her and fished her out.  He promptly did "mouth to snout" resuscitation and turned her upside down and began calling for me. I come out to find her with purple gums and tongue and inside of her ears from lack of oxygen.  I did my share of life-support breathing and she seemed to be fine after an hour. My husband didn’t want to take chances on his own life, so he insisted we take her to an after ours vet hospital. She was put in an oxygen tent for a day and placed on other medications. The doctor didn't find anything wrong otherwise and thought she would grow up fine. That little experience was extremely valuable as we never knew that a dog could drown and that it happens very often in pools.
Upon Jencks' return home she went right out and jumped in the pool again.  She is the NO FEAR mascot!. We never let her swim  without a doggie life-vest after that.
Anyway, Jencks is perfect and I don’t  think there was any brain damage or none that I would care to notice or acknowledge!!
